Jon wiped the beading sweat from his brow.

He looked around at his compatriots, then up at the newly framed, wallless building standing before him.

“A job well done fellas, we’re making good time, looks like we’ll be done before winter like we planned. Go home to your wives and families and have some dinner I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow.”

For once in his crazy life, Jon felt at peace.

Besides the fact that he didn’t have heating or cooling, that one was still hard from him to get over, but aside from that, life was good.

Sure, he didn’t believe any of the god stuff. When your previous job was as a time traveler, you gain a different perspective on reality. Yeah, sadly the truth of the universe wasn’t as exciting and purposeful as people used to believe it was. But he didn’t rain on their parade, he got why people needed the stories. He just wished he could share his stories, but then they would think he was insane, so he kept those special stories m for his wife and kids around bedtime.

Jon walked through the front door of his house and was soon greeted by his wife with the warmest of welcomes. The warm welcome was quickly followed up by an excited welcome as his three year old son ran up and hugging his leg.

All of a sudden, Jon was jolted awake.

“Nooooo!” He screamed out in agony.

“Jon whatever it is, we don’t have time, there are five Stasi walking up to the door, we have to go, now!”

”Bloody hell!.” Jon switch immediately into fight or flight, obviously doing the flight part as he quietly hurried everyone in the house out the back door.
